Brunico in Pusteria valley

Brunico (835 m) is situated in the middle of a wide basin and surrounded by beautiful high mountains. Brunico, mentioned for the first time in a document in 1256, is the centre of Pusteria valley and regarded as cultural centre as well as shopping centre for the whole Pusteria valley.

At the foot of its own local mountain, with the incomparable atmosphere of its old town, Brunico is an inviting place for visitors to take a stroll and linger for a while.

Traditional shops, small boutiques and cosy bars and cafés line Brunico's lavish Stadtgasse and tempt you to take a stroll through the old town.

The city of Brunico organizes many celebrations and events for every age group. Enjoy numerous and wonderful sights like the Castle of Brunico, the Museum of Folklore in Dietenheim, the City Museum for Graphic Arts or the parish church.

Messner Mountain Museum Ripa - Bruneck Castle

The fifth MMM Ripa by the well known mountain climber Reinhold Messner. He is not "exhibiting", but inviting to an exchange of experience with the rustic population. Every year guests from different mountain regions will be spending summer at the Messner Mountain Museum Ripa and will be telling about their way of live, accompanied from rarities from the various region.

Riscone (900 m)

Riscone is about 2 km away from Brunico. Riscone is situated directly next to the cable railways of the Plan de Corones - Kronplatz, the ski area no. 1 of South Tyrol.

In the sports area of Riscone is the possibility to do horse-riding, golfing, to play tennis or football or go for a swim in the indoor swimming pool Cron4, and enjoy exercising in the fitness centre.

The village of Riscone, a Mecca for all sports enthusiasts, is located at the foot of the Plan de Corones with direct cable car links to the mountain's ski slopes. The cross-country skiing trails wind harmoniously through the snowy natural surroundings, whilst hiking trails blend into the wintry landscape.

At the Sport Park in Riscone there is a modern cross-country skiing and leisure centre, which, in addition to a cross-country trail for beginners and families, also has a speed-skating rink.

San Giorgio (821 m)

The calm village San Giorgio with cosy atmosphere, surrounded by romantic trees (Ahr-Auen), beautiful flower meadows and fields, is directly situated at the Pustertaler cycle track and at the Nordic walking park "Kronplatz - Dolomiti".

Situated at the beginning of the Valle Aurina valley, San Giorgio is an excellent starting point for hiking and mountain tours to the Dolomites, the Ahrntaler mountains and into the wildlife park Riesenferner.

Winter

The ski areas of Pusteria valley are located in Aurina valley, in Badia valley, in Braies valley, Brunico, San Vigilio di Marebbe, Dobbiaco and Sesto.

Christmas Market Brunico

The Christmas Market creates a magical Christmas atmosphere in Brunico. Numerous stands with traditional handicrafts, culinary specialities, the St. Nicholas procession and the approach of Christmas all make hearts beat faster.
