Lake Carezza (1,534 m) is the most beautiful lake in the Alps. The reflection of the Latemar and Catinaccio massive twinkles on the surface like jewels sparkling in the sun.
Lake of Carezza in Val d'Ega valley in South Tyrol is known for its wonderful colours and therefore in Ladin it is also called "Lec de Ergobando" (The Rainbow Lake).
Legend has it that a magican smashed the rainbow he had created to seduce a mermaid into the lake, sending beautiful colours tumbling into the water.
